  Good stay for families

  We stayed in a Garden Beach Villa with plunge pool, and although a little tired, it was clean and met our needs perfectly. Our teen kids were with us and the resort had sufficient activities to keep them entertained for our 5 night stay. In comparison with some other resorts, this one is a bit more laid back in terms of quality and service, but it is still very enjoyable.

  *The Club pool rooms and house reef make up for what the resort severely lacks in service.* Pros: great house reef, 25min seaplane ride from male, nice club pool rooms. Cons: seaplane noise, restaurant service is extremely slow, and customer service is generally no where near 5-stars.

  A great resort but not 5* for me

  We stayed at this resort as a family of 4 including 2 kids (aged 7 & 10) at the end of March 2025 for 4 nights. The resort is absolutely stunning and it’s difficult not to fall in love with it on first sight: Upon arrival, the check in procedure was super smooth and Furuk gave us details about the resort and very kindly arranged a late lunch for us. A summary of our experience Restaurant staff - the service is exceptional and they honestly go out of their way to cater for you. Housekeeping staff - room was clean and the staff is super honest - my wife was unaware that she had dropped her rings and found them on the table when we arrived back from breakfast. Thai restaurant - We ate here twice and the taste of the food is exceptional Italian restaurant - We got a takeaway from here once and dined in once; the food is very good. Breakfast at the reef - great selection and good quality of food Our Chalet - very good size, super comfortable bed and very good amenities. The resort is indeed exceptional and we had a great time. The reasons why we won’t be coming again are: 1. Given that we are a family of foodies, we purposely booked the all inclusive package expecting a good variety of hot food but the buffet offering at the Reef for lunch and dinner is indeed very poor given that it’s a 5* resort; don’t expect more than 1 or perhaps 2 chicken options and something similar for other meats with lots of filler / cold food options. The beef Frikadelle at breakfast may turn up for dinner at the kids corner as coated and fried with breadcrumbs. Having said that the head chef did approach me twice and very kindly asked what we wanted and the first time around I didn’t have much to say as I just like a variety of hot food to select from. My wife and son did order a burger once but the taste just didn’t cut it for them. As a result we chose to ate as much as we could at the Thai and Italia restaurants. 2. This was the first time my family and I were engaging in any activity that involved sea life and hence were nervous at the prospect of swimming in the water with sharks. Upon gaining some confidence snorkelling on the first day, speaking with the representative at the water sports stall, he mentioned a ship wreck nearby and it would be an interesting experience for me and my family to go and see assuring us that it was completely safe for us to go by ourselves. As we were approaching the ship wreck area, the life guard at the diving center started whistling away telling us to come back. This was really scary and when coming into speaking distance with him, he mentioned that we could be bitten by sharks there and weren’t supposed to go there. I don’t know who was right but all employees need to be on the same page where guest safety is concerned especially when there are kids involved. It would be good to have marked boundaries where guests can go and cannot go.

  A Perfect Island……. Almost

  Superb in almost every respect but for a couple of issues mentioned in the review. We will definitely return. I was slightly disappointed that upon reporting leaving my prescription sunglasses in the room soon after departure, including a report of their precise location, the resort said that they could not be located.

  What a resort, the Villas are outstanding, and the setting is simply paradise. The team on the ground are warm and engaging. The food excellent.   A magical place with great people

  This is a special place. Thank you once again for a wonderful family holiday. We have visited a few times and each time never disappoints. The island, the food, the Spa and the snorkelling are amazing but it’s the people that make a place! Some have been there since our 1st visit - thanks Anil and Roshan. Lovely to see you again. Thanks Dana. We were so well looked after - Sunny was lovely at Mare Azzure and the lovely chap who runs the Thai place (sorry I can’t remember your name) thank you to everyone. Also, The Club added a new place to relax this year and Mitchal and Rishard were wonderful. Special thanks to all the team at the Spa. All the teams at both bars are very attentive and a great selection of drinks and cocktails to accompany the fish feeding and sunset. Bliss! Enjoyed playing pool - upstairs chill out area could do with some renovation as it’s not been updated /maintained since 2020 and an al fresco table tennis table would be good and perhaps an extra paddle board or 2 Another memorable trip.   Peaceful island with breathtaking views, rich underwater world and friendly staff

  We are 5-member family with 3 small kids and we are very satisfied with staying in your resort, on beautiful, peaceful Machchafushi Island. Our family overwater villa was very comfortable and always cleaned (thanks to the friendly housekeeper, sadly don’t know his name). The view from our villa was breathtaking! Staff in Reef restaurant took care of us all the time. Mr. Kal and Mrs. Me prepared a big and amazing surprise for our kids on our last day there. We had a great experience with guys from Dive Center - we really enjoyed on manta trip. Our kids adored Ms. Yumi from Kamp Safari Kid’s Club. She knew how to motivate them and had great ideas for kids activities. We would like to thank you also to Mr. Fetty - this is a man with a big heart, very helpful and good with children.

  A Dream came true!Thank you Team!

  From our arrival to our departure everything was perfect!We enjoyed this patadise on earth!To the point I had tears in my eyes when we were leaving.The only negativity is the reef restaurant,I felt the quality of food there is not reflecting the reality of the resort.Also we had to pay for baby siting for our 2 years old everytime we wanted to go for an activity which in other resorts we didnt have too.So it would be great if they allow kids above 2 to stay for free.We had surprises and gestures at the birthday of our son amd daughter.The personel is amazing.Starting from Mitchel,Richard Mubamad, Sunny, Ashik, Fariq, Islam and the housekeeping team, They are all amazing!And more and more!I just forgot the names!Thank you a lot guys!Keep up with this service.Will definitely come back!

  Great Choice

  We stayed for 10 nights and had a very good experience at the hotel, we enjoyed our Reethi Muraka Overwater villa. The air conditioning was very effective and the room offered all the facilities we needed and was kept clean at all times. Overall all staff were very friendly and helpful, a special thanks to Pat that help us to get the villa in the best location for our needs and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Special mention to Giuseppe in food and beverage that made sure we had everything we needed during our meals and gave us great recommendations about the food, very friendly chap to chat with. My husband is vegetarian and we both are spice intolerant so we booked B&B only and had a choice of where to eat and full menu choice, which suited us.We ate most nights in the Italian restaurant Mare Azzurro and the chef catered according to our needs.The pizza was fantastic and the service was great. We had a great time during the Whale Shark excursion, the guys on the boat were very informative, friendly and helpful and we managed to snorkel with the whale shark! Great experience and we highly recommend. We snorkeled around the island and found the best area to snorkel was from the back of the dive centre going to the right all the way to the first set of overwater villas.There was an abundance of black tip sharks up to full adult size around 1.60m, also large white tip sharks, turtles, eagle rays, octopus and a wide variety of fishes with lots of very large parrot fish and oriental sweetlips all very tame and used to the presence of humans. It is worth purchasing in Amazon a waterproof pouch for your Iphone that costs around £10 for two, as a variety of fish are in very shallow areas of the reef and the colours come out great on the photos/videos. High tide is the best time to explore the shallow areas of the reef without danger of damaging the corals. Overall the reef is looking healthy and didn't disappoint. We highly recommend this hotel.

  Everything would be fantastic if Centara could improve a food quality

  Positive: location is very good, people there are so friendly and helpful. Samsul is very kínd, he always makes surprise for us. My dad forgor his passport in safe and all of staff member was so kind and tried the best to help him get his passport back as soon as possible so he did not miss his flight. Thank you so much for this action. I appreciated this gestus. Negative: food was not so good, there are no too much of choose.

  Good value for money.. Food options very limited

  The staff was very good but they were clearly overworked . Short staffed property. Excellent house reef and water sports centre. The whale shark excursion was not worth it at all as it is a rare sight. The manta rays excursion was also not very fruitful as the sea was very choppy. We didn’t see much in the night snorkeling either. Best is to stick by the house reef where u can see tons of sea creatures.
