Dr. Ronnachit Mahattanapreut, Centara’s Senior Vice President - Finance & Administration received the “Low Carbon Business: Waste Management Award” for Centara’s efforts in the Vibhavadi Zero Waste Programme led by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Centara Hotels & Resorts (SET: CENTEL), Thailand’s leading hotel operator, has been awarded “Low Carbon Business: Waste Management Award” by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in recognition of its effective waste reduction and resource management under Vibhavadi Zero Waste programme.

Led by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Thailand Responsible Business Network (TRBN), Vibhavadi Zero Waste aims to forge synergy on effective waste and resource management through increasing recycling rates, reducing wastes sent to landfills, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions to significantly reduce negative impact and increase positive impact on the environment along Vibhavadi Road.

Centara is committed to positive social impact and reducing its environmental footprint, and has implemented a plan of action covering three aspects, including: (1) educating employees to understand the waste problem and available solutions; (2) utilising a digital-based data management platform to collect and analyse data; and (3) shaping employees’ individual behaviour on waste reduction and management.  

Launched in 2019, Vibhavadi Zero Waste is a collaborative effort of 32 publicly listed companies with presence on Vibhavadi Road to raise public conscience and awareness of the importance of environment and to support the members in their efforts to make tangible contributions to the initiative.
