The bustling metropolis of Bangkok is home to just about every kind of cuisine known to humankind. So, it should come as no surprise that the city is home to several down-home, US-style BBQ joints.
Smoked ribs, pulled pork, slow-cooked brisket, grilled mesquite chicken, and, of course, steak is all available here in Thailand’s capital city.
Charred on the outside, juicy on the inside, a touch of distinct charcoal flavour, and a slathering of savoury sauce; that’s what you want for perfect BBQ. And, you’ll be sure to find it at one of these BBQ joints in Bangkok.
Smokin’ Pug
Ranked 1st on TripAdvisor’s list of BBQ restaurants in Bangkok, this place is a must-visit for meat lovers. Smokin’ Pug’s signature dish is the Baby Back Pork Ribs, which are dry rubbed in Pug’s secret seasoning and smoked to perfection in their huge courtyard smoker. The smoked buffalo chicken wings, the pulled pork sandwich, and the baked mac & cheese are just some of the other highly recommended items on the menu. Located at 105 Lang Suan Road, this place is only 500 metres from Ratchadamri BTS station and also just a 10-minute drive from Centara Grand at CentralWorld. Opening hours are 5:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Devilish Chews and Brews
This American-Australian hybrid BBQ joint serves low and slow BBQ and Australian pub grub. Their star dishes are pork spare ribs cooked for three to four hours and the Australian grain-fed beef brisket cooked for eight to 12 hours. For groups of friends or family, the BBQ feast treat is an ideal choice as it includes a half rack of pork spare ribs, pork belly, pulled pork, a half chicken, and two beef sausages. At 1,549 THB, that’s tremendous value. Devilish is in the Di Wavery Community Mall on Sukhumvit Soi 101/1. It’s 600 metres from Punnawithi BTS Station and is open from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday through Sunday.
Feed the Beast
Feed the Beast is not your typical BBQ joint. What makes them unique is that they use Longan and Lychee wood from northern Thailand for smoking instead of the standard hickory or oak wood. This gives their signature smoked BBQ brisket and pork ribs a distinctly delicious aroma, texture, and flavour. Another customer favourite here is the Beast Burger. It’s an Angus beef patty served on a brioche bun, topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and the secret beast sauce. The restaurant is located on Charoen Nakorn Soi 45 near the Chao Phraya River and it is open every day except Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 11 p.m.
